Possible Tax Break for Animal Owners

December 27th, 2009

As reported by Courtney Rehmer:

A legislator from Michigan has introduced new legislation called, The Humanity and Pets Partnered Through the Years Act, or more simply put the Happy Act. If passed the act would allow taxpayers to deduct up to 35-hundred dollars a-year in pet care expenses, including vet care. The act was introduced by Thaddeus McCotter of Michigan. The Cherryland Humane Society Executive Director Mike Cherry says the shelter is filled with animals in need of a good home. He says the financial boost could go a long way in helping place the animals.

“Could help them actually keep the pets that they have… if other people are thinking about pets and going through economic times it could be a boom for them to realize that maybe they can afford a pet …certainly our shelters are chalked full of animals not only here in Michigan, but throughout the state.”

Expenses cover pet products, service, veterinary visits, and basically anything that is related to the care of a pet.  This includes cages beds and vitamins available from PetProducts360.com
