Blue Buffalo Food Recall

October 13th, 2010 No comments »

Yet another recall has been initiated. This time it’s a dog food recall by Blue Buffalo. The recall, which is voluntary has been initiated because there may be levels of vitamin D in the dog food which are too high for safe consumption. The following products, bag sizes and lot numbers are part of this dog food recall:

BLUE Wilderness Chicken- 4.5 lb., 11 lb., 24lb. – JUL1211B, JUL1311B, JUL2611Z, JUL2711Z, JUL2811Z
BLUE Basics Salmon – 11 lb., 24 lb. – AUG2111B, AUG2211B
BLUE Large Breed Adult Chicken – 30 lb. – SEP 22 11 P, SEP 23 11 P, OCT 26 11 P

Blue Buffalo has released the following statement regarding this recall:

We came to this conclusion after discovering that our ingredient supplier had made a scheduling error and produced a Vitamin D supplement immediately prior to preparing the ingredients for the BLUE products that are in question. We believe that some of the Vitamin D supplement may have been carried over into our products, resulting in more Vitamin D than is called for in our formulas.

While the potential of increased Vitamin D presents no serious health risk, and any negative reaction to these products has been confined to a very small segment of the canine population who appear to be sensitive to higher levels of Vitamin D, we have a zero tolerance for any product that does not meet our specifications….

Blue Buffalo has suggested that if you do have one of the recalled bags in your possession, you should immediately stop feeding your dog from that bag, and call 1-877-523-9114 for further information regarding a refund of the product.

Blue Buffalo produces both cat food and dog food. They are headquartered in Wilton, Connecticut.

Organizational Relationships with Synergy

Businesses that use Exact’s Synergy software to help manage Accounts such as Prospects and Customers have asked for functionality such as “Who does this Contact Person report to?”

In standard Synergy, this information could be put into the notes for each contact person, but it would be very difficult to extract this information.

With our new Synergy tool, we are able to capture this information on each Contact card.  Modifications can be made easily by all Resources within your organization, even if they do not have the rights to make changes to the card.  A button is added to your Contacts screen to allow the displaying of this information in a easy to view format.

National Take Your Dog to Work Day

June 12th, 2010 No comments »

PetProducts360.com wants you to mark your calendars.  June 25th is National take your dog to work day.

To prepare your dog for a successful day at the office, he should be comfortable in new environments and greeting strangers. That means providing lots of practice before the big day by taking him along with you everywhere dogs are welcome such as to parks, dog-friendly restaurants with outdoor seating and pet stores.   When you’re out and about, teach your dog to sit while being petted rather than jumping up on the greeters. This will be especially important when you take him or her to the office. Good manners will go a long way and your boss and co-workers might even invite him back again.

If your co-workers bring their dogs to work too, make sure your dog and the others are dog-friendly before allowing any interactions. The last thing you’d want to do is have a public dog fight! That would be a sure-fire way to put the kibosh on next year’s event! If all the dogs are friendly and have been well-socialized, interactions should be done on leash, fully supervised, kept short and sweet (5-10 minutes at a time) and ended on a positive note. Calling your dog back to you and giving him a reward for coming when called is a great way to end a short play session.

Having a safe rest area like a bed or kennel gives your pet a place to relax.

According to a survey of working adults over the age of 18 conducted by The American Pet Products Manufacturers Association, nearly one in five U.S. companies allows pets in the workplace. If your workplace isn’t among them and you’d like it to be, here are some other findings disclosed by the survey:

• Fifty-five million Americans believe having pets in the workplace leads to a more creative environment.
•Fifty-three million believe having pets in the workplace decreases absenteeism.
• Fifty-million believe having pets there helps co-workers get along better.
• Thirty-eight million believe having pets in the workplace creates a more productive work environment.
• Thirty-two million believe having pets in the workplace decreases smoking there.
• Thirty-seven million believe having pets in the workplace helps improve the relationship between managers and their employees.
And, 46 million people who bring their pets to the workplace work longer hours.

One thing is certain, if your company allows its employees to participate in Take Your Dog to Work Day this year, I bet there won’t be an empty desk to be found June 25!
